通りゃんせとは何か？

起源
　　　　通りゃんせとは江戸時代に成立した伝統的な日本の童歌だ。童歌というのは、子どもが遊びながら、歌う歌だ。一般的に、童謡と同じだ。作った人はおそらく野口雨情である。というのは、１９２０年頃に、彼はレコードに作者として記載されているが、確実ではない。

名前の意味
　　　　『通りゃんせ』というのは、今の日本語では意味があまり分からない。昔の日本語だそうだ。インターネットで歌詞の翻訳を見たら、英語で『let me pass』ということだが、完璧には分からない。私にとって、名前の部分「通り」は名詞だと思ったが、日本人の友だちと話すと、そのタイトルは古い動詞の活用だそうで、それは私たちの仮説になった。今の日本語では、「通る」の意味は「ある場所からある場所へ行く」ということだ。英語では「to pass (by, over, through)」ということだ。だから、「let me pass」は本当に「通りゃんせ」の意味かもしれない。

　　　　Tōryanse is a traditional Japanese children's tune from the Edo era. Usually, these Japanese songs are followed by some plays and games. However this is questionable, because according to a quotation in an old record from the 1920’s, Ujo Noguchi is the author.

About the name

　　　　I didn’t know almost anything about the meaning of the name, but I thought that was some kinda of old Japanese. Looking for information about the song, I read a lot of translations and almost of then use “Let me pass” as the meaning for Tōryanse. I thought that Tōryanse was a noun, but talking to my Japanese friend we realized that Tōryanse is probably a verb. The verb, “Toru”, means to pass (by, over, through).

　　　　Tōryanse é uma tradicional canção infantil japonesa da era Edo. geralmente, essas canções infantis japonesas são acompanhadas de jogos e brincadeiras, como uma cantiga de roda. Não se sabe ao certo, porém suspeita-se que o autor é Ujo Noguchi, pois ele é citado como autor de tal em uma antiga gravação feita por volta dos anos 20.

Significado do nome
　　　　Não sabia ao certo o que significava o nome, porém achava ser uma espécie de japonês clássico, ou um tanto antigo. Procurando sobre a canção, encontrei vários indícios de que Tōryanse significa “Deixe-me passar”. Achava ser um substantivo, pois “Tōri” é rua em japonês. Porém, após conversar com um amigo japonês, chegamos a conclusão de que Tōryanse é uma conjugação verbal. Em japonês atual, o verbo “Tōru” significa “passar” (por, entre) o que nos me fez pensar que a tradução “deixe-me passar” tem grandes chances de ser correta.
